Brot Bistro Bar

In the neighborhood center Park Bäckeranlage

The most beautiful neighborhood meeting place in District 4 – "Bäcki"

Where Zurich pulses most densely, greenery does double good. The Bäckeranlage has been part of the neighborhood's history since around 1900 and was redesigned in 1938 to be not only "beautiful" but above all practical for everyday use: as a public park, as a neighborhood garden, open, uncomplicated, for everyone. Today, it is a green highlight in District 4, including a playground, splash pool, and many benches under large trees, where people meet, wait, discuss, or simply take a moment to breathe. The Brot Bistro is a meeting place for young and old without any ifs or buts. That’s exactly what makes the Bäckeranlage special: a colorful mix of generations and cultures, having lunch in the park, children playing in the afternoon, people staying in the evening. And right in the middle is the neighborhood center: a lively place with a restaurant, events, and rooms that can be rented for anything from a children's birthday party to a small exhibition. The Brot Bistro is intentionally designed to be child-friendly, with a specially created play corner and short paths to the playground right outside the door, a relaxed atmosphere, and the feeling: Here, one can be as "simply" a family as they can be a regular, neighbor, or park date.

New tenants, new energy – sct gastro GmbH

A new chapter begins in April 2025. After the city of Zurich has newly rented out the restaurant following renovations, we, as sct gastro GmbH, were awarded the contract with the aim of catering to the mixed audience of the Bäckeranlage and creating an uncomplicated offering "from early to late." Opening with neighborhood vibes instead of stiffness. The starting signal was given in April 2025: first the opening celebration from April 10–12, 2025, then the commencement of daily operations on April 14, 2025, as a clear sign: This is not just a restaurant, but a place that supports the neighborhood. The bread is understood as the charming centerpiece (or kidney, if you look at the building shape from above) of the Bäckeranlage: come in for a coffee, stay for lunch, later an aperitif inside or outside, right in the greenery. And since there is "always something happening" in the neighborhood center, the concept fits perfectly: food, togetherness, culture, and spontaneous ideas in one place.
